Title:  What Kind Of A Church Member Are You?
Text:  1 Corinthians 1:10

What kind of a church member are you? Are you a critical church member, are you a big contributor, or are you a
"control-freak", wanting everything to go your way, what kind of a church member are you? What should a church
member be, (first, second, third), they should be an:

1. Example of Christ.

In I Cor 11:1, the Apostle Paul tells the church at Corinth to "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ." Paul
wants every church member to be an example of Christ, someone who has made Jesus, Lord, in their heart, their
home, and their habits. Be an example of Christ at church, remember the words of the Apostle Paul, "Be ye followers
of me, even as I also am of Christ." Every church member should be an example of Christ - are you?

2. Example of Charity.

Being an example of charity in church is very important, the Apostle Paul says in I Cor 13:1, "Though I speak with the
tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal." Listen,
we need to be an example of love to everyone in the church family, to an unfamiliar face, and to someone whose
just floating through, the Apostle Paul wanted every church member in Corinth to be an example of charity. Let’s be
the friendliest church in town!

3. Example Of A Christian Gift.

In I Cor 12:1, Paul says, "Now concerning spiritural gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant." What kind of
church member does Pual want us to be? In theory, Paul wants us to be a benefit, to do our best, and to be a
blessing to others in the church - a spiritual gift. He doesn’t want us to be like the people in Corinth who were
causing divisions, creating difficulties, and forming "clicks". What are you to your church? Be a gift, a benefit, a
blessing, and someone whose doing their best!

Concl: As we begin 2009, what kind of a church member are you? Don’t be fooled, it makes a difference, not only in
your spiritural life, but in the lives of others as well. Be an example of Christ, be an example of charity, and be an
example of a spiritural gift in the church!
