Branded Cowboy Church was established in July of 2006 to help meet the spiritual needs of the community, and to let people know that it's time to get back to the basics in our worship to God. This ministry is the fulfillment of a vision that our founder and Pastor Lewis "Charlie Brown" Garner and his wife Renee had in 2005.
The dress is very casual. If blue jeans, cowboy boots and a hat suit your fancy, then it's ok with God. This is the church that love built, and our prayer is that you will feel this love as soon as you walk through the door.
Our ministry is growing very fast. Our attendance is averaging around 100 people. We had a high of 139 folks the first Sunday in January, and our prayer is that we will have a full house by the end of 2008.
Many Cowboy Churches have started around the Tennessee area in theatres and arenas. As far as we know, we are the first existing church in Tennessee to convert over to the Cowboy Church format. When you walk in, it is like being transported to another time. The inside of the church has swinging doors going into the vestibule. The stage area in the sanctuary is an old General Store front with a tin roof, rocking chairs, washtubs and all the fixins. The musicians play on the front porch. The pulpit is made of two wood pickle barrels with a barrel saddle over top of them for Pastor Charlie's bible. (Click here to view photos)
Our Homecomings in the future will be a wagon train format with dinner on the ground, preaching, and great Southern Gospel Music. Once again, getting back to the basics, the way it used to be.
The ultimate vision that we have for this ministry is that God provides a large tract of land for a dude ranch for church youth, troubled youth, or anyone who has a need to find the peace that is lacking in their lives. We will have team building skills, horseback riding, cooking over open campfires, and bedding down under the stars. We promote family values, and this can be a great way for families to just re-establish their own lives and commitments to each other.
Please come into agreement with us in prayer that God will move on this vision, and that other local ministries can see the potential for a place like this in our community to reach out all over the country to troubled homes and broken lives.
Services are Sunday School at 10:00 a.m. Morning Worship at 11:00 a.m. and Wednesday Night at 7:00 p.m. Every Sunday we have a fellowship dinner after the morning service. Last one out locks the door. There is always plenty of good food and fellowship, so don't be bashful when you visit us.
